Retaining walls can provide easy and safe walkways, and access to flower beds that often provide a suntrap where you can grow plants and vegetable that love the sunshine. Tomato plants, for example are a great Northwest favorite, and benefit greatly from a wall that absorbs heat from the sun all day long, then keeps the tomato plants relatively warm during the cool nights of the season. So, too, they provide easy access to maintain the plants as the warm months of the year progress.
